Design a morning routine that works for you

April 09, 2018

No matter where you are in the world, if you’re a human being, you’re going to sleep. Scientists don’t know why, but it is one of the things that all of us have in common. What happens after we wake up is a totally different story.
But, how do you create a morning routine that increases productivity, whether at home, in your daily commute, or at work? In this article, we share 5 easy tips to make more of your day.
Get Centered
There’s a lot going on in our mind during the first few moments of wakefulness. Fleeting memories of dreams are disappearing as the realities of the day set in. And during these confusing moments, the body often takes over, practicing habits that have formed mindlessly over a lifetime.
Why not make the transition more purposeful and valuable by meditating. Meditating as part of your morning routine can help set the tone of the day, put priorities in perspective, and replace stress with focus. There are many free apps to guide you on how to meditate and make this part of your morning routine.
Release the Endorphins
Working out in the morning boosts your metabolism, improves both physical and mental energy, makes you feel better, and reduces stress by releasing pain-killing endorphins. And it doesn’t have to be just about training. Walking, biking and running are all metabolism boosting activities.
Have Dessert Before Dinner
Imagine waking up and watching our favorite TV show or movie in bed before starting your day. According to research, starting your day with a reward will most likely put you in a better, happier mood and help you see the day with more perspective.
Be Creative
A study to determine the optimal time of day for creativity revealed that when the brain is awake, alert and caffeinated, it’s also more analytical and requires less creative thinking to arrive at solutions.
So, in the morning, (if you’re not a morning person who wakes up alert), being groggy and somewhat aloof of data and facts, the brain will make connections and leaps between ideas and concepts that it might not otherwise connect.
Make the Fanciest Meal of the Day
Cooking can be an art, a passion, a mood booster, and a better choice when it comes to eating healthy and saving money. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and mornings can be the most creative part of the day, why not make the morning an opportunity to release your inner chef?
Find your recipes and cook them to perfection. Add creative fuel to a feeling of accomplishment and there’s no better nourishment for the day.
